DEREK&JAMAR PRODUCTIONS, LLC
Derek & Jamar Productions is the product of a long-standing creative union between art school friends. While studying at Pratt Institute School of Art and Design as freshman, Jamar White, a special-effects major from Brooklyn, NY and Derek Fordjour, a painting major Memphis, TN became interested in cross-disciplinary approaches to making art. As students and later fraternity brothers, they collaborated on several projects involving media as far ranging as internet design and art direction to classical painting.
In 2000, the duo joined forces to produce An Experiment in Brotherhood, a documentary short, their first historical project. Black Sorority Project is the first initiative written, produced and directed under the Derek&Jamar umbrella. Jamar holds a BFA from Pratt Institute School of Art and Design. Derek holds BA and Ed.M. degrees from Morehouse and Harvard respectively. Derek&Jamar is based in Brooklyn, NY. |
